Paraiyar Education Empowerment Project

Introduction

     Rajapalayam is a reserve constituency which is located in virudhunagar district of Tamilnadu state .Approximately more than Fifty thousand Paraiyar community peoples are living in this area. When compared to other caste peoples the Paraiyar community peoples are socially, economically and educationally very poor.

Problem

Even though there are lot of governmental schemes for the promotion of sc/st students, due lack of information the programme has not implementing in a successful manner. Even in this scientific world most of the educational institutions were denying to provide education for the Paraiyar community in this area. In government school some students were get chance to pursuing their higher education but it is not in a successful manner. Through this project our organization is going to fulfill such problems through NFE for democracy.

Objective of the projects

      1.  To enhance the educational standard in the Paraiyar community through the non formal education (NFE)

   2. Through NFE schools democratic lessons will be teaching

· Human rights education

· Children’s rights

· Women’s rights

    3. Through this NFE School social problems will be diminished

Limitation of the Project

   ·     This project is only focusing only on 20 socially economically backward villages in    and  around    Rajapalayam Taluk

    ·       To educate the children and the children’s parents 

Beneficiary

Direct beneficiary

  ·       Students of the NFE school is going to benefit from the project

  ·       Teachers of the NFE School will get benefit by means of getting employment opportunity.

Indirect beneficiary

  ·       Whole Paraiyar community is going to get benefit from this project.

  ·       After the successful of this project this project will give recommendation for similar projects (other NGO’s or other Govt programmes etc.,)

Implementation of the project

  With the prior permission of the concerned village heads the school will be function in a public places or grounds. The NFE teachers will be recruited through screening test.

Persons involved in this project

PCO

He is the in charge of the project. He will evaluate and monitor all the 20 NFE schools reports in a systematic manner.

Supervisor

Under the supervision of PCO, two supervisors will work.Each supervisor is in charge of ten NFE schools (One cluster).He has to monitor the school everyday and giving some guidelines to the NFE teachers.

Teachers

In each NFE school one teacher will be appointing. He/she is the responsible for function the class regularly and maintaining the school records in a proper manner.

PTA

Parents Teacher Association will have more responsibility to monitor the school in a proper manner. In each and every school at least two EC members should be appointed by the supervisor/NFE teachers. The EC members should conduct at least one PTA meeting in a month in order to evaluate the school periodically.

Hypothesis

·         Through this project Paraiyar's self sustainability will be emerging.

·         Standard of livelihood condition of Paraiyar community will increase.
